Hello! I’m new to this site and may be a bit clumsy about how to approach . I’ve been interested in the Sikh Way for a long time and have read portions of Shi Granth Sahib on Beliefnet.
My question to you is this: Since I was not born a Sikh, nor was born in India, is there a place for one like me in the Sikh Community? I must admit that I don’t know much about the Sikh Religion but I do honor and uphold the fact that God is One. It is my core belief.
I have had people come to me and say, “Our God is true but yours is false.” How can this be so if God is One? Jews, Moslems, Christians, Sikhs, Baha’is and a number of others say the same thing — that God is One. Then we must all be serving the same One and there is no separation in Him.
So I would like to know if there is a group of Sikhs in Houston who is especially oriented to guys like me who were born in the USA.
Thanks and God bless.
Charles
You should join one of these Gurbani meeting. Usually these are held every month and you can discuss your mind. Also related to One God concept. Usually young, School or College age students participate. Call the number on this meeting notice or other meeting notices these are held on different places every month. I am pretty sure you will be invited welcomed and well received and hope fully you will be satisfied too.
